Guided Pathway to Christ

1. God created us in image so that we could have a relationship with him.

Genesis 1:27

So God created human beings in his own image.

    In the image of God he created them;

male and female he created them.

2. But we each have decided to live our lives apart from God and we end up disobeying him.

Romans 3:23
For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.

3. God is holy and our sin has consequences. But God has also provided a way for us to have life.

Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.

4. Even while we opposed God in our lives, he loved us by sending his son Jesus.

Romans 5:8
But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.
John 3:16
For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him
will not perish but have eternal life.

5. He sent his son and is being patient with us because he wants all of us to turn away from our sin and follow him.

2 Peter 3:9

The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your

sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent.

6. God’s grace, loving us even if we don’t deserve it, is what brings salvation to all who trust in him.

Titus 2:11

For the grace of God has been revealed, bringing salvation to all people.

7. Trusting in Jesus is God’s only way to truly come to know him.

John 14:6

Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.”

Acts 4:12

“There is salvation in no one else! God has given no other name under heaven by which we must be

saved.”

8. To receive the gift of this relationship with God, we admit that Jesus is Lord and believe God raised
him from the dead.

Romans 10:9-10

If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you

will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly

declaring your faith that you are saved.

9. This is a promise to all who call on the Lord.

Romans 10:13

For “Everyone who calls on the name of the LORD will be saved.”

10. This new relationship of salvation is all because of God’s grace and we can’t do anything to receive
it. We believe in faith, trusting he will save us because of Jesus. That is all we can do. We don’t work for it.

Ephesians 2:8-9

God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God.

Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it.

11. When we trust in Jesus we enter that right relationship with God and now we have peace with God.

Romans 5:1

Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of

what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us.

12. God makes everyone who follows Jesus as Lord a new creation.

2 Corinthians 5:17

This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life

has begun!

13. Now life daily putting your trust in God to guide you. He will guide you how to live through his word,
the Bible.

Proverbs 3:5-6

Trust in the LORD with all your heart;

do not depend on your own understanding.

Seek his will in all you do,

and he will show you which path to take.

Psalm 119:105

Your word is a lamp to guide my feet

and a light for my path.

The Bible is the story of how God created us to be in relationship with him, but we decided to live our
lives. Because of his great love for us he spends all of history reaching out to us to renew that
relationship with us. When we follow Jesus, who died on the cross for us, paying the penalty we should
have paid we become new again and begin to grow in the new relationship God always wanted us to have
with him.

Below are select verses from the Bible which explain the basic story.
